ರೈತರೆನಿಸಿಕೊಂಡ ಪ್ರತೀಯೊಬ್ಬರೂ ಸಾವಯವ ಪದಾರ್ಥಕ್ಕೂ ಸಾವಯವ ಗೊಬ್ಬರಕ್ಕೂ ಇರುವ ವ್ಯತ್ಯಾಸ ತಿಳಿದಿರಲೇಬೇಕು.ಇಂದಿನ ಕೃಷಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ರೈತರು ಬೆಳೆಗಳಿಗೆ ರಾಸಾಯನಿಕ ಗೊಬ್ಬರಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ಸಾವಯವ ಗೊಬ್ಬರಗಳ ಬಳಕೆಗೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಮಹತ್ವ ನೀಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಆದರೆ, ಉತ್ತಮ ಇಳುವರಿ ಹಾಗೂ ದೀರ್ಘಕಾಲೀನ ಮಣ್ಣಿನ ಫಲವತ್ತತೆಗೆ ಅತ್ಯಗತ್ಯವಾದದದ್ದು “ಸಾವಯವ ಪದಾರ್ಥ (Organic Matter)” ಇದರ  ಮಹತ್ವವನ್ನು ಅನೇಕರು ಅರಿತಿಲ್ಲ. ಬಹುತೇಕ ರೈತರು ಸಾವಯವ ಪದಾರ್ಥ ಮತ್ತು ಸಾವಯವ ಗೊಬ್ಬರ ಒಂದೇ ಎಂದು ಭಾವಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಆದರೆ ಇವೆರಡರ ಉದ್ದೇಶ ಹಾಗೂ ಕಾರ್ಯ ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ವಿಭಿನ್ನವಾಗಿದೆ….
